Land Acknowledgment
I acknowledge that I create on the traditional lands of the Takelma people, their name meaning "(Those) Along the River". My water is sourced from The Illinois River, which was historically a place for native people to find salmon and engage in ceremony. This acknowledgment is important to me because I respect the treaties that were made on these territories and because acknowledging indigenous communities that have been harmed is an important step in the journey toward reconciliation. I strive to honor the values and practices that enable the Takelma people to coexist harmoniously with the natural ecosystem, and I work to protect and restore the land upon which I live. I acknowledge and hold in deepest reverence the Takelma who are the traditional custodians of this land, and extend this respect to all First Nation people wherever you are reading.
Sliding scale rates are available to wisdom keepers of ancient tradition and heritage. I honor the history and culture of all indigenous people, and want to support creations that are rooted in history but live in the contemporary world.
